Ever wanted to let your creative side shine through? Here’s your chance. Artist Piotr Frac is offering stained glass classes from 10.30am to 1pm on Thusdays and Saturdays. This beautiful art form is one of the oldest in the world and has hardly changed since the 12th century. Described as ‘craftsmanship with a fine art sensibility’, it’s the closest thing to painting with light.
The course covers a range of skills and techniques together with an understanding of safe studio practice. Students will learn how to prepare a project, cut shapes in glass, use lead, grind glass, solder, and master the finishing techniques to create a traditional panel. It’s a unique opportunity to explore the craft and is open to adults of all abilities.
Courses are held at St John’s Church on Bethnal Green (Community Art Room), 200 Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, E2 9PA. A workbench, all necessary tools and practise glass will be provided, although students will need to purchase some coloured glass and lead to complete their projects. Places are limited so early booking is advised. For further information contact Piotr at: firstname.lastname@example.org or on 07522059900.
